TPN Awards 2018 raises more than £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support
THE Pallet Network Awards 2018 raised £8,318 for Macmillan Cancer Support, thanks to the generosity of TPN Members and sponsors.
The event, which was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon, on 17 March, recognised and celebrated the very best in UK logistics. A full list of winning depots can be found here. However TPN, which runs a monthly charity drive amongst the Membership to support local charities, wanted to take the opportunity to fundraise for a national cause.
There was great generosity from attendees with Trailer Resources and GC Distribution in particular making outstanding donations. Guests also donated £5 each to play on the F1 racing car simulator kindly loaned by sponsor, Jungheinrich.
“We are thrilled to have raised so much money for such a worthy cause,” says MD Mark Duggan. “Cancer unfortunately affects many of us and I know Macmillan does great work to help those who need support, when they need it most.”
Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, emotional and personal support to people affected by cancer every year. The charity is there to support people during treatment, help with work and money worries, and listen when people need to talk about their feelings.
TPN has an ongoing commitment to fundraising. Its Monthly Charity Draw takes £10 from each member, and a randomly chosen depot receives the pot – usually about £1,000 – each month. At least half of this goes to a charity or community organisation of the depot’s choice, with the remainder being used to reward staff.
So far this year the TPN Charity Draw has supported Leeds, homelessness shelter, St George’s Crypt; Yorkshire Air Ambulance; and two children’s football teams, the Royston Town Youth FC Under 11 Girls Team, and the Bassingbourn Youth Under 8s Spitfires Team.
